Foiled Again!

Why is it that every damn time I try to leave the lab early on the Friday before a three day weekend, something always goes wrong?
The only major thing I was planning today was to run a couple of proteins through the Q column. Easy enough, right? Wrong.
The person who used the machine before me decided to fuck up every single dial on the data recorder as well as some unknown setting (unknown to me) on the actual machine. So, I ended up with fractions that were not the volume I set them to be, so now my protein is spread across a trillion tubes and I really don't know which ones because the graph I got back is completely unintelligible.
I was able to fix the data recorder before I started by second protein and now it is functioning properly, but I have no idea why the hell I am getting fractions that aren't at the volume I specified. Ugh.
I guess the ye olde science gods are punishing me for trying to get out of the lab without putting in the requisite minimum of 50 hrs.
The worst part is that everything went perfectly all week long. ugh.

...see today I am sort of happy that it is not only me who is having a trouled day.

let's just say I thought I would be able to take a two day weekend and get out early. It now looks like maybe Monday off... and a later evening tonight.

sigh. I guess it is something to live through. Good luck and I hope you have success in finding the protein!

chall - I think I'll just quite making plans and see if that helps. ;) I hope your stuff worked out and you at least get 1.5 days.

tideliar - Yeah, today can be summed up by the the last line of Darth Vader in Ep. 3 Revenge of the Sith. "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" Only in my case, it was believable. ;)

EGF - LMAO!!!! Indeed.

MXX: well, since it all went downhill today I decided to cut my losses and not go in tomorrow OR Monday :)
(I did however bring some work with me home but that doesn't count as much..... right?)

Hope you can enjoy the weekend and hope the protein is better next week!
