I am happy to report that I was granted the suffix of Ph.D. Thanks to everyone for all the well-wishes and support. Now all I have to do is make the corrections to my dissertation and turn it into the graduate school and I am finished. I will stay in graduate lab until the end of the year and then start in post-doc lab in January.
My little celebration on Friday night was fun and eventful.
Unfortunately, the bar I told everyone to meet me at was still lacking power, but they were open, so we stayed. There was generator power, but we all sat on the deck and drank by lantern. Thankfully the weather was nice, otherwise this would not have been an option.
One of my best friends, who was a previous member of graduate school lab, dropped my engagement ring onto the deck, and it fell through the spaces into the dirt below. After about 15 to 20 minutes of peering through the cracks in the deck with flashlights, Lancelot (the ring purchaser) found the ring. The wood lattice covering the crawl space under the deck was pulled off and fortunately my friend with a small ass was able to fit under the deck and rescue my one piece of nice jewelry.
It was night I won't soon forget. Well...at least the parts I can remember ;).
